It’s hard to believe, but here I am already starting my second Cotton Cuts puzzle mystery quilt. I had so much fun making the last one that when they asked me to blog about their latest one I jumped at the chance. This time I am doing the small version of the Maggiore colorway. It is a festive combination of red, white and blue fabrics that are from the Spangled by Wishwell collection for Robert Kaufman Fabrics. Join me as I assemble clue number 1 of the Piazza puzzle mystery quilt!

As with my last mystery quilt called Sew Sweet, I will be doing a video tutorial to help you out. If you head over to my YouTube channel you will find all of the steps numbered in the video’s description. I find that helpful for folks if they are stuck on one particular section.

Puzzle Mystery Tips

Here are a couple of tips that I have learned after doing these quilts.

1. Take a picture of the color/fabric chart on the back of your pamphlet. If you lose it, that photo will come in very handy.
2. Label the sections when you are done with a particular clue. I forgot to do that with one month of the other quilt I am making and it took a while to find out which section was which. You’ll be glad you did when you are trying to assemble the quilt at the end of the 10 months.
3. Follow the pressing directions on the pattern. The pattern writers have really good pressing directions. If you press as indicated by the arrows you should have no problem with assembly.
4. There is a facebook group for all of the mystery quilters. I suggest joining it because it is a great place to ask questions and see other people’s work. You can also show off your own progress.
